WHO WE ARE

Blastworks is a mobile-first social games subsidiary of Gaming Realms plc headquartered in Victoria, Canada.

We publish unique IP and game mechanics created in the online casino, puzzle and boardgame categories for all major social games channels worldwide.

1996

Slingo® originally launched, legacy game that would influence Blastworks’ future.

2015

Blastworks founded as a mobile/social gaming publisher and owner of Slingo®

2016 onwards

Blastworks expands its social game portfolio across platforms (mobile, web, social).

2021 onwards

Continued game releases and updates, including multiple new Slingo titles and creative launches.

2026

Celebrated 30+ years of Slingo, reinforcing brand heritage and Blastworks’ role in its evolution.

Blastworks Leadership

Kevin Potvin

Managing Director

Kevin joined in April of 2014, leading the creation and execution of technology strategy at Blastworks. His expertise ranges from product strategy and execution to software development, technology architecture and systems/infrastructure engineering. Previously Sr. Director of Engineering with Vivonet, and Manager of Operations with Amazon, Kevin has led engineering and information technology professionals across multiple verticals including e-commerce, payments, business intelligence, financial applications, and most recently, gaming.

Piper Gordon

Software Development Manager

Piper joined Blastworks in March of 2024 as the Software Development Manager for the Unity, BI (business intelligence), and Game Server engineering teams. She holds a Bachelor of Software Engineering and completed her master’s degree in computer science shortly after starting work at Microsoft Studios Victoria, in 2012. She has worked in software development for One Bit Labs, DreamCraft Attractions, Kano and Unity. Piper has many interests including writing and comedy but, largely due to her three high-energy children, she has negligible free time.

Sara Derevyanny

Head of Customer Retention Marketing and HR

Sara joined in May 2011 as an Executive Administrator. She has held a few roles within Blastworks including Executive Assistant and HR Manager. In 2017 Sara began working in Marketing becoming the head of Customer Retention Marketing and HR today. Sara spends her free time with her daughter, husband and Bernedoodle in Kirkland, Washington.

Teresa Marek

Art Manager

Since joining Blastworks in 2012, Teresa has been an integral part of the Art Team and an advocate for strong visual design across the studio. Raised on Vancouver Island, she began her career in Vancouver, where she built extensive experience in Art, Animation, and Design. Teresa holds a diploma in Graphic Design and two diplomas from Capilano University in Commercial and Digital Animation. Her background includes work across multiple animation pipelines, giving her a deep understanding of collaborative, multidisciplinary production. Today, she leads with a focus on creative excellence, team growth, and building cohesive visual experiences across our portfolio.

Brandon Bey

Software Development Manager

Brandon joined Blastworks November 2023 as the Software Development Manager for our Content Team. Growing up on Vancounver Island, Brandon has worked in Software Engineering for more than 15 years, tinkering in his free time as a hobby game developer and participating in the occasional GameJam. While his career had him focus on client and customer engagement, his passion was user experience. At Blastworks he works with the content team, making fun and engaging games for our players and improving the tools his team uses to make games. Bringing his love of hobby game development to the company, he helped restart the dormant practice of an annual GameJam at the company where everyone participates in innovation exploration and prototyping games.

Austin Lee

Producer

Austin joined Blastworks in November of 2021 as a QA Automation Engineer before being promoted to Producer in 2022. Calgary-raised, he studied Design and UI in the HCI stream of University of Victoria's Software Engineering program. With experience teaching requirements, coding, and quality assurance, he now manages various projects at Blastworks. Outside of work, Austin enjoys baking, Ultimate Frisbee, and both video and boardgames!

Niveditha Rai

Senior Growth and Product Manager

Niveditha joined in 2024 to drive the growth mandate for Blastworks, bringing years of experience building brands across e-commerce, retail, fintech, and consumer businesses. At Blastworks, she ensures our fun, engaging games get the visibility they deserve. She drives growth through a mix of strategic planning, analytics, partnerships, and creative problem-solving. Curious by nature, she aims to learn a new skill every year.
